Students for Students
The Alliance of Pro-Life Students is the only pro-life organisation in Great Britain dedicated to supporting students. It is run by university level students and recent graduates with broad skill-sets, enthusiasm and inside knowledge of contemporary student life. Based on the knowledge that an inclusive organisation is essential for modern day student pro-life activism, APS draws on the strengths of multiple backgrounds and viewpoints. The Alliance of Pro-Life Students is uniquely placed to reach university campuses and is already working with pro-life groups and organisations on both a local and national level.
Our Mission
The mission of the Alliance of Pro-Life Students is to build university communities in England, Scotland and Wales that have a lasting and profound respect for human life from fertilisation to natural death.
Why we started
On 19th February 2012, APS was formed by 14 students (including 9 current and former presidents) from Bristol Students for Life, Cardiff Students for Life, Edinburgh Life Society and York United for Life. APS was formed in response to two major obstacles to student pro-life activism:
- transience of student pro-life communities
- silencing of pro-life students within student politics
What we do
The Alliance of Pro-Life Students is run full-time by Eve Farren, former President of Bristol Students for Life, along with a team of graduate volunteers; alumni from the Edinburgh, Cardiff and Bristol groups. Together, they will channel the energy and enthusiasm of students to revitalise the pro-life movement by building, supporting, connecting.
Building pro-life societies by encouraging students of all religious backgrounds and none to start their own societies.
Supporting pro-life societies by: providing educational resource packs and databases of speakers and reliable sources; helping with event organisation and networking; standing up for the rights of pro-life students to peacefully speak out on life ethics.
Connecting pro-life students: with each other online through our website forum and face-to-face with specialist training days; with other pro-life organisations for internships and volunteering opportunities.
Investing in the future
Students are the nation’s future leaders and professionals. The next generation of doctors, lawyers, parents, teachers, nurses, politicians, engineers and artists will go on to build a pro-life society with a profound and lasting respect for human life.
